Legal
Cookie policy.
Effective date: 1 October 2026. This policy explains what cookies are, which ones this site uses, and how you can control them.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Cookies let a site remember things between pages and visits — a login, a language choice, or the fact that you've already answered a question. Similar technologies, such as browser local storage, work in much the same way. This policy covers both.
The categories we use
| Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for the site to function — for example, the local storage record of your cookie consent choice itself (key "bor36-consent"). Without this, the site would ask you about cookies on every page. | Until you clear your browser storage, or until you use the "Cookie settings" link to remove it. |
| Preferences | Remembers choices you make (such as keeping the mobile menu state) so the site behaves the way you left it. We set no separate preference cookies beyond the consent record above. | Session only, or until cleared. |
| Analytics | Would help us understand which pages are read and how visitors move through the site, so we can improve it. We only enable analytics if you accept cookies in the banner. | Where used, typically up to 24 months, set by the analytics provider. |
| Advertising | Set by Microsoft Advertising where ads are served: to count how often an ad is shown, prevent fraud, cap frequency, and — only with your consent — personalise ads based on your browsing. | Typically up to 13 months, set by Microsoft. See our advertising policy. |
The embedded Google Map on our contact page is loaded directly from Google, and Google may set its own cookies when it loads. See our privacy policy for details and Google's own privacy policy.
How the consent banner works
The first time you visit the site, a banner appears at the bottom of the page explaining that we use cookies and linking to this policy. You can:
- Accept — records "accepted" in your browser's local storage, and allows analytics and advertising cookies.
- Decline — records "declined", and only the strictly necessary consent record itself is kept. Analytics and personalised advertising stay off.
Whichever you choose, the banner will not appear again on future visits, because your choice is stored in your browser.
How to withdraw or change your consent
You can change your mind at any time. Click the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page: this clears your stored choice and brings the banner back so you can accept or decline again. After declining, any analytics or advertising cookies previously set should expire naturally and will not be renewed.
Browser-level cookie controls
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies entirely, and to clear local storage:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & security → Cookies and site data.
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage website data.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.
Blocking all cookies may affect how parts of this site behave, but the core pages will still work.
