Independent branding & design studio — Prestwich, Manchester
Identity is not decoration.
We build the face that northern independents wear into the world.
36 BOR LTD. is a small studio above the shops on Bury Old Road. We name things, draw things, print things and art-direct things — for taprooms and fringe theatres, for roasteries and print rooms, for anyone up here making something worth looking at twice.
About the studioSelected work
A neighbourhood microbrewery between Prestwich village and Heaton Park. We built the identity around the moment the brewhouse lights go off and the bar lights come on — black glass, brass foil and a stray-red horizon line running across every label.
A fringe company performing in a converted mill room off Bury New Road. Season campaigns built from rehearsal photography, stark type and a single red cue light — posters that read from across the tram stop.
Riso and letterpress printers two doors down from us. We redesigned their specimen sheets, job bags and shop signage so the workshop itself reads like one continuous proof sheet.
A deli and grocer on the corner by Heaton Park gates. Chalkboard system, paper bags, jar labels and a window type treatment that changes with the seasons of the park.
A coffee roastery in a former cotton mill on the edge of Ancoats. A colour-coded bag system that lets the baristas find the right roast by shelf position alone, at six in the morning, before the lights fully come on.
A ceramics and homeware shop on Rammy's main street. Quiet mark, loud paper — every parcel leaves the shop wrapped in newsprint printed with the studio's own clay-glaze tests.
